Do you have a passion for history? The State Historical Society of Iowa is looking for enthusiastic volunteers like you! Whether you are in search of a one-time experience or ongoing volunteer opportunities, we may have something for you.
Fill out the Volunteer Interest Form to get involved at State Historical Society locations in Des Moines and Iowa City, as well as historic sites across the state. Volunteer opportunities vary and are on an as needed basis. You must be 18 years or older to volunteer.
Currently enrolled college students may be interested in applying for the museum's internship program.

- Silver Cord Program: If you are looking to obtain volunteer hours toward the Silver Cord Program please check your high school's Silver Cord Program website and Facebook page for opportunities at the State Historical Museum of Iowa. All available opportunities will be posted through your school.
