Volunteer Panelist Program
Citizen advice is central to government support of the arts. The Iowa Arts Council relies on volunteer panelists with a broad range of artistic and cultural viewpoints to bring expertise to multiple department review processes. Volunteer panelists review and provide recommendations for department programmatic, funding, scholarship and exhibit opportunities.
Volunteer Panelist Responsibilities
Volunteer panelists are expected to review provided program materials and offer evaluation for assigned applications. Panelists are provided guidelines, instruction and training in advance of reviews.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must meet all of the following requirements.
- Legal Iowa resident
- 21 years of age or older
- Professionally experienced in
- An arts discipline,
- Arts education,
- Nonprofit organization management, and/or
- Community-based arts projects
Stipend
A modest stipend is available upon request if serving on a panel falls outside of the scope of a panelist's normal job duties and/or places a burden on their time.
Online Application Submission
Applicants must submit applications via the Iowa Arts Council’s SlideRoom, an online application portal. Applications will not be accepted in any other format. Review Process
Submitted applications are reviewed by staff for relevance to review panel opportunities. Volunteer panelists are selected at the discretion of the Iowa Arts Council. Application does not guarantee selection to serve as a review panelist.
