The State Historic Preservation Office offers technical assistance to property owners, local governments, nonprofit organizations, communities, federal and state agencies, and American Indian Tribal governments and organizations.
Technical Advisory Network
The Technical Advisory Network provides assistance to potential Historical Resource Development Program grant applicants and to those who require guidance once the grant has been awarded. Technical Advisory Network advisors are preservation professionals who have many years of experience in the field. Through this program, you can have an advisor visit your community or project site to offer you specific advice on your project. Advisors can also prepare an Iowa Site Inventory form for an opinion of National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs will fund the Technical Advisory Network advisor’s time. The local sponsor or property owner pays for the advisor’s travel and expenses (mileage, meals and lodging).
Advisors are available for all three of the Historical Resource Development Program categories — documentary collections, historic preservation and museums. View additional historic preservation resources.
