Goldie's Kids Club
The State Historical Society of Iowa has hatched a new program called Goldie’s Kids Club to introduce children aged 12 and under to Iowa history – starting with Goldie the eastern goldfinch, the state bird.
Free membership includes:
- A newsletter full of fun facts and games
- Exclusive invitations to museum activities
- A card from Goldie during your child’s birthday month
- Other goodies throughout the year

Programs for Club Members
Goldie’s Kids Club members have exclusive access to select museum programs and events. All programs are free for Goldie’s Kids Club members.
The Storytime program allows the youngest club members (recommended for ages 3-7) and their families to enjoy listening to a short story and then examine artifacts and exhibits related to the story. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Up to two adults may accompany the child(ren).

Visit the museum on the first early-out Wednesday each month for History Makers. Activities and topics will vary from month to month and focus on the STEAM umbrella of learning. History Makers programs are recommended for children 8-12 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.Up to two adults may accompany the child(ren).

What is that?! Be a detective and investigate objects from the museum's collection vault to see if you can guess how the objects were used. Adults and children can work together to solve the History Mystery. This program is recommended for children 8-12 years old. Each child must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Online pre-registrationfor the History Mystery program is required.
