Stuck inside? No problem - we're bringing Goldie's Kids Club to you. Goldie at Home programs and activities are designed to introduce children aged 12 and under to Iowa history right from the comfort of their own homes.
Iowa is full of colorful characters! Meet a few each month when a team member from the State Historical Museum of Iowa reads a short story, and then stick around to participate in a hands-on activity and explore an exhibit. The half-hour programs are recommended for young historians (ages 3-7) who are accompanied by an adult.

Goldie's Kids Club: First Saturday Programs
First Saturday programs will resume in September, but don't miss out on Goldie at Home for new Iowa history activities that can be enjoyed at home.
Join Goldie the Goldfinch on the first Saturday of every month to learn about Iowa history and solve some of its mysteries! Through hands-on activities, artifact examinations, exhibit tours and more, children (ages 8-12) and their families can explore the past... like never before.
- "History Mystery" programs encourage participants to examine historic artifacts to determine how they were used and who might have used them.
- "Innovative Iowans" programs involve interactive activities that connect history with STEAM education – science, technology, engineering, art and math.
All of the programs are free, but advance registration is required for the hour-long programs. Please register by noon on the Friday before the program. Each child must be accompanied by an adult for its duration.
