Celebrate Iowa Gala

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs extends its sincere appreciation to all the Iowans who helped make the ninth annual – and first virtual – Celebrate Iowa Gala a success. Guests from across the country tuned in on December 11, 2020, to enjoy an interactive showcase of Iowa arts, history, film and culture from across the state.

The department especially thanks the gala’s numerous private and corporate sponsors, whose generous contributions provide essential support for statewide education initiatives and exhibits of the State Historical Society of Iowa – including programs leading up to the 175th anniversary of Iowa statehood on December 28, 2021. To commemorate this historic milestone, the society is amplifying its virtual educational resources, online access to historical archives and new exhibit experiences for families, students, educators and lifelong learners.

Each year, the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs hosts the Celebrate Iowa Gala to support statewide efforts to preserve and share Iowa history for generations to come. Proceeds from the gala support the State Historical Society of Iowa’s exhibits and programs, funded by the Iowa Historical Foundation, a 501(c)(3).

The 2020 gala might look a little different. But this year, especially, we encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to support the department’s mission to build culturally vibrant communities by connecting Iowans to the people, places and points of pride that define our state.
