The opening reception for Jami Milne's "Under Pressure" will take place Thursday, June 16th from 6-8pm at Mainframe Studios. Working alongside the pottery students of Central Academy, Milne guided students through the art of slip casting and mold making, using ceramics to visualize the opposing forces of one's need for safety and space against the pressure to leave one's comfort or stance prematurely. The installation, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 through an appropriation to the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, for the state partnership agreement with Iowa Arts Council. The event is free and open to the public, and the work will stay up through July.
