State Historical Museum of Iowa Auditorium
Born in Story County and raised at the Iowa Soldiers' Orphans Home in Davenport, Billy Sunday (1862-1935) grew up to become a major-league baseball player and one of the country's most famous Christian evangelists.
Learn more about his remarkable story from historian Craig Bishop, author of "Billy Sunday: Baseball Evangelist." With photos and stories, Bishop will discuss Sunday's early years in Iowa, his athletic career and his rise to fame.
This event is the third of three November lectures that celebrate the 160th anniversary of the State Historical Society of Iowa and the 50th anniversary of the Iowa Arts Council. Admission is free.
