The Painting Center seeks proposals for curated exhibitions on an ongoing basis. They have a history of showing significant work of both the past and the present. Exhibitions are often reviewed and have visibility in the Chelsea art scene. These exhibitions also provide educational tools for students and the public, therefore they encourage artists and curators to use their space to examine unique ideas about painting and other various media.
Proposed exhibitions must include a minimum of four artists. To submit to their curatorial program, create a formal proposal with a written thesis statement. Please include at least two images and biographies from each artist as a pdf. Also, indicate whether the exhibition will be funded by a grant or funded by contributions from the artists. The gallery does not provide funding for curated exhibitions, but can offer support and resources for locating funding for accepted exhibitions.
