The Youth Creative Literacy Specialist will serve under the Arts & Cultural Affairs Coordinator, in partnership with community organizations specializing in arts & culture programming, to provide arts-based literacy education resources and enrichment opportunities to Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade students. This AmeriCorps position will be responsible for program development, implementation and evaluation, and outreach to the community youth populations.
AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more. AmeriCorps Members receive a bi-weekly living stipend and upon the completion of their contract, AmeriCorps member will receive education award in the form of an electronic payment through my.americorpgs.gov. Education award may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions or qualified student loans. Members who are 55+ years of age can transfer award to child or grandchild.
