Certified Local Government Grant Program

The Certified Local Government grant program is open to those Iowa cities, counties and land use districts that have signed a Certified Local Government Agreement with the State of Iowa and National Park Service. In order to be eligible to apply for this grant opportunity, the Certified Local Government must also be in good standing and current in its submission of Iowa Certified Local Government annual reports.

Eligible grant activities include:

  • National Register nominations
  • Education projects
  • Surveys
  • Planning for preservation
  • Planning and predevelopment projects

How to Apply

The 2023 Certified Local Government grant round is now open.

All grant applications must be submitted online through SlideRoom and by following the CLG grant guidelines.

The CLG grant guidelines has information about the grant application process and how to construct a successful application.

You can submit a draft application for review and comment. The deadline for draft applications is August 12, 2022 at 11:59pm and must be submitted through SlideRoom. You can expect to receive comments back in about a week. 

The deadline for final applications is September 6, 2022 at 11:59pm.
